Harefield United 1  Northwood 2

Tuesday 27th July 2010

The Woods took another step towards the start of the new season with a warm-up game at Harefield United on Tuesday night.

Mark Barnham used the game to take another look at some of the triallists who played against Hillingdon Borough, fielding most of them in the first-half against a lively Hares side.

It was the home team that took the lead on 18 minutes when Denver Morris latched onto the end of a cross to knock the ball coolly past Mark Britt in the Woods goal.

Harefield's claims for a couple of penalties were turned down, keeping the Woods in the game, and the scores were levelled in the 27th minute when Andrew Murphy fired in to make the scores 1-1 at half-time.

The second-half saw the introduction of some more familiar faces, and when Scott Orphanou turned in a Danny Power cross with his first touch of the game on 47 minutes it seemed as if there might be a few goals to follow.

It didn't work out that way, though, with Leon Osei and Hugo Figueiredo missing some good chances to boost their strike rate.

There was also a run-out for former Woods favourite Chris Moore, who has been out of the game for a year or so. The 30-year-old striker scored 41 goals in 85 games for Northwood between 2002 and 2003 before moving on to play for Dagenham & Redbridge, Brentford and Chelmsford Cit,y and has returned to his roots to find a return to both fitness and form over the next couple of months.
